Catherine Corfield

Catherine Corfield B.A Hons, M.A Catherine Corfield is a contemporary British landscape painter. Based in Leeds, she works from her studio and exhibits regularly across the country. She has had a series of mixed and one woman exhibitions and her work is held in public and private collections both at home and abroad. Her work has been used for many commercial and non commercial projects and commissions such as radio logos, school murals, book covers and corporate marketing. Catherine was born in Berkshire in 1978. She studied at University College of Northampton, then University of Greenwich and now lives in Yorkshire with her family painting full time. Artist Statement "My work draws inspiration from the semi abstract nature of landscape and interpreting a 'sense of place', incorporating the sounds, smells and atmosphere of the place or subject . My work is drawn from my own memory to create works that are abstracted and expressional. I am particularly interested in light of nature and weather its impact and transformation on the appearance of the landscape."

Beverley Healy

Beverley Healy lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she exhibits regularly. In 2011 she won the Ann Cheyne Award for small works and in 2016 received First Prize in the American Art Awards for her portraiture. She was also the Creator and Coordinator of the Dreams Art and Health Research Project which won the Blair L Sadler Healing Arts Awards. She says of her work, "I believe in the healing power of Art. I seek to create work that is not merely a likeness but a beautiful painting, a jewel to adorn the wall of a home or a gallery. My portraits are usually painted in egg tempera on traditional gesso board which allows a softness of colour and sensitivity to detail. My pastel work, on the other hand, allows me to work more freely - I start with a verse or a song and the painting becomes a discovery. I often liken them to visual prayers. In either medium I enjoy colour and the sense of connecting with something deeper as I paint."

I returned to my first love, painting, after many years working as a textile designer, designing scarves for my own company which I sold worldwide. My textile designs won awards for innovation due to the unusual organic tactile textures of my fabrics which were very much inspired by the fabulous basalt rock of Fingals cave on Staffa. My love of texture is evident in my current collections of paintings , mixed media collage , drawings and assemblages . The Isle of Mull is where I grew up . It is an island of contrasts . The weather can change from Mediterranean sunshine to brooding blackness in one day . My work also goes from bright colour to blackness. I have just recently visited Fingals Cave and once again it is inspiring me . My website reflects this change in moods .

My artworks cover a wide variety of subject, media and styles. I began with figurative drawings and spray paintings that developed into abstraction and textured interior artworks. More recently I have produced a series of scenic landscapes in greyscale aswell as autumn colour scheme. I like to think of my art in a state of evolution and a learning curve that is constantly progressing.

I am an artist currently working with glass, print and mixed media. My work is concerned with our connection to nature, our world and the universe. I have always been fascinated by biological and natural processes and anomalies and for me science and art go hand in hand. My works are semi abstract glass sculptures, drawings and prints which are inspired by natural forms.

Using the sewing machine as a tool for continuous line drawing, my work explores movement and texture with often unpredictable outcomes, which have been likened to ink illustration. Julie's work focuses on the wild side of nature, dance and motion. Each piece is unique and one off. The speed and capricious nature of the sewing machine, when used in this unconventional way reflects characteristics of the subjects. Using reclaimed fabric, paper and handmade felt opens new opportunities to discover how the stitched marks respond to different surfaces, pulling or embossing a piece of work in sympathy with the surface. Threads are purposely left loose over or around the image to allow the illusion of more depth and movement.
