Born in London, Johnny spent much of his early life in various fairly remote parts of Africa, developing a fondness for beauty in its most natural state - as things really are, rather than as they are often made to appear. This early, exotic isolation fed a great desire to travel widely and experience a world of blemished beauty, culminating in a permanent move to the heart of Paris, within a stone's throw of the Sorbonne, the Louvre and his neighbour, the Musee d'Orsay, from where a love of art proved irresistible.
2011 was his debut year as a professional artist, one that saw his first solo exhibitions. Johnny's work is now hung in an ever growing group of fine art galleries throughout the Europe, with recent exhibitions in Antwerp, Paris, Johannesburg and a dual exhibition in Florence planned for late 2014.
2011/2012/2013 were award winning years, which would not have been possible without the support of gallery owners, curators, critics and above all, collectors who continue to support him.
His aim is to strip away the veneer of a subject and to capture a moment, not a dramatic one, something evocative, occasionally ordinary but always honest and without the need for a narrative. Painting exclusively with the finest oils on stretched canvas, with an extensive portfolio of works sold throughout Europe, the Middle/Far East & the US, Johnny is primarily a figurative painter, technically traditional, his work has a
contemporary feel, depicting a moment in time.

Emry's work is heavily influenced by the landscape and people of the Lleyn peninsula, his childhood home in Wales. Over the years he has been making and remaking a succession of images that reflect his feelings towards this unique part of Wales.
