“Nymph” is part of the series “Nymph, Mistress, Mother, Virgin,” composed of four works depicting women. Each work consists of 20 interchangeable tiles, illustrating the complexity of the ideal contemporary woman. “Nymph” comprises 20 tiles which, when assembled, form a dynamic rape scene. It combines, in a collage, two cherubs and the image of Castor and Hilaeira from “The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus” by Peter Paul Rubens and Jan Wilders. The dark tones of the background emphasise the radiance of the skin, accentuating the dramatic intensity of each square. This work is striking in its blend of classical and contemporary elements, captivating the viewer with its exceptional harmony and remarkable expressiveness. The artist skilfully plays with visual perceptions, creating a dynamic of movement and emotion.
