Marian Williams was born in Rotterdam in 1962, where she grew up, studied and worked until 1987, at which point she moved to France.

Marian chose to take various detours in life to finally arrive at her true passion.
After studying physical education and physiology she specialized in management of sport events.
A management career that continued after arriving in France in 1987, where she became managing director of a New York based design company.
In 2010, she finished the building of her family house and decided to decorate it with her own compositions.
When a friend and gallery owner visited the house and proposed to organize an exhibition, Marian started working on her first collection; ’ The Art of Inferior Decoration ‘.
The show was a success and the encouragements pushed her to start a professional career in art.
Since then, her work has been on show in France, England, Italy, Albania, the Netherlands and in the USA.
In 2015 one of her works was selected for the ‘Salon des Beaux Arts’ exhibition in les Salles du Caroussel du Louvre in Paris.
Of all forms of art, Marian prefers to express herself through collage.
Her analog compositions combine acrylic paint and oil paint, original illustrations dating from 1900 till today and three dimensional recycled components.
The works, influenced by pop art, dadaism and surrealism, show originality and freshness.
Marian has approached collage from different angles and styles and has taken the challenge to produce collage in large formats.
Her abstract warm colored painted backgrounds, with runs and drips contrast with the figurative aspect of the printed material.
Paper is cut, ripped or torn and sometimes only used for the print’s ink.
Marian uses unique techniques mixing paint and glue in order to create semi transparent, sharp edged drippings.
The artist’s political engagement for women’s rights, freedom and social justice, are recurring themes.
Her story telling is sincere, expressed in various ways, sometimes minimalist, sometimes complex.
The viewers are often touched by their deepest emotions… the basic ones.
