An Corran, Loch Shubhairne.
Corran, Loch Hourn. Oil on canvas 14 x 10 inches. Framed size 19 x 15 inches.
Frame colour “Charleston Grey”, Slip colour “Dimity” both by Farrow and Ball.
The tiny village of Corran sits at the end of the road from Glenelg. It is one of the loveliest roads in the Highlands, following Loch Hourn beneath the shadow of Beinn Sgritheall.
The old waterside sheds are a reminder of the dependence of remote Highland communities on fishing and crofting. In the painting I aimed to capture something of the remoteness and atmosphere created by the cloud drifting off the hills.
