The Buffer Zone
Collection of Natural England. Based on drawings made in the buffer zone between the woodland nature reserve and a new executive housing estate. I was struck by the harsh contrast between newly created suburbia and the fragile ecosystem of the ancient woodland.

About the artist
I am a painter of northern landscapes and of the sea. I'm an established artist in the north of England but I'm also known more widely with for example my TV participation in the SKY Portrait Artist of the Year competition.
