Pas de Deux 2

Pas de Deux 2
2026

This work merges photography and collage to create an enigmatic and emotive silhouette. Dominated by the juxtaposition of two bodily fragments, the piece presents a fragmented female figure in a dramatic pose that appears to be in motion, evoking a dynamic of energy and tension. A detail from a photograph by Charles Stewart from his reportage “Harlem Nudes,” depicting a Black dancer, contrasts with the other detail of a woman: a 1970s model in a vibrant red-orange drape. The contrast between the nude and clothed bodies in bold colors underscores the duality between vulnerability and strength. The painting explores themes of femininity and emotion, using visual fragmentation to invite the viewer to reflect on the duality and complexity of existence. The work evokes a symbiosis of stillness and movement, silence and emotion, leaving a lasting impression through its bold beauty and striking contrasts.
