‘Love is Blind 1’ is a paper on canvas collage, measuring 20x20 cm.
The surrealistic composition is built up from two elements.
The collage shows a black and white photo of a glamorous couple of which the eyes and top part of the face are replaced by orange Venetian blinds.
The vintage couple are film stars Alan Ladd and Donna Reed for the film ‘Chicago Deadline’, a 1949 American crime film directed by Lewis Allen.
The image is a cut out from a fifties French film magazine.
The orange blinds are a detail of an illustration of Robert Rauschenberg’s assemblage: ‘Blind Rosso, Porpora Glut’.
The two elements contrast and complement each other.
As a result the object seems to give the couple their expression.
Paper collage, signed, varnished and delivered with a certificat of authenticity.
