Yellow Geisha is from the ‘Mirror’ series, a serie of geishas with half faces.
The work shows the portrait of a geisha, dressed in yellow with a confrontational appearance. Her menace is reinforced by the pointed metal finger claw.
The hard stare is in contrast with the mild line of her silhouette.
The black drippings balance this incongruity.
The face and hand are paper collages glued to the painted background.
Mixed media composition on 89 x 116 cm linen canvas.
