This work juxtaposes human and marine elements, creating a captivating hybrid figure. Against an azure blue background, the silhouette of a woman stands, her upper body replaced by a vibrant fish with multicoloured hues reminiscent of an aquatic rainbow. Her slender legs contrast with the dreamlike strangeness of her transformation. The body’s textures add visual depth, while the lateral fins evoke fluidity and movement. This artistic fusion challenges the boundaries between species, exploring duality and cultural mixing. The work provokes reflection on identity and nature, harmoniously combining beauty and strangeness. A true hymn to originality and creativity, this piece invites the viewer to delve into a surreal universe and reevaluate the notions of form and function.

Strange Mermaid in Blue was part of the ‘Étrange’ solo exhibition at the Theatre de l’Esplanade in Draguignan, France in January 2025.

Strange Mermaid in Blue is a mixed media composition on canvas featuring a transfer collage based of the paper collage ‘Head or Tails’ from 2021.
Transfer collage,  acrylic and oil paint.
