From the ‘Et moi, et moi, et moi’ art exhibition where three female artists present their personal mythologies, trying to find the key to their true essence through their works.
My story is about my family and roots in Rotterdam.

‘Rotterdam et moi 1’ is a mixed media composition on canvas; transfer collage finished with paper collage, oil paint, pastels and felt tip pen.

The composition features two illustrations that are torn in two parts, the edges ragged.

The top image represents the top half of the statue by Ossip Zadkine, ‘The Destroyed City’.
The Destroyed City is a bronze memorial sculpture in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. It commemorates the German bombing of Rotterdam on 14 May 1940, which destroyed the medieval centre of the city.

The bottom half represents a child running in the fields.

Both figures contribute to the dynamic and mouvement of this work.
The figurative approach juxtaposes reality with fantasy, capturing a moment of blissful release, defiance of gravity. It’s an invitation to viewers to grasp the unexpected, challenging the conventions of form and space.

« Rotterdam et moi 1 » est une composition mixte sur toile ; collage de transfert terminé avec du collage de papier, de la peinture à l’huile, des pastels et un feutre.

La composition comporte deux illustrations déchirées en deux parties, les bords irréguliers.

L’image du haut représente la moitié supérieure de la statue d’Ossip Zadkine, « La Ville détruite ».
La Ville détruite est une sculpture commémorative en bronze située dans la ville néerlandaise de Rotterdam. Elle commémore le bombardement allemand de Rotterdam le 14 mai 1940, qui détruisit le centre médiéval de la ville.

La moitié inférieure représente un enfant courant dans les champs.

Les deux figures contribuent à la dynamique et au mouvement de cette œuvre.
L’approche figurative juxtapose réalité et fantaisie, capturant un moment de libération bienheureuse, de défi à la gravité. C’est une invitation aux spectateurs à saisir l’inattendu, remettant en question les conventions de la forme et de l’espace.
