Abi launching the Radio Sonde 'Snood' balloon.
Every day at 11am the radio sonde weather balloon was released. It rose to more than 30km into the stratosphere where it burst under the low pressure. It relayed data on temperature, wind speed and direction, pressure and humidity all the way up just like they did in the Golden Age of ballooning in the early 19th century.
