Anemones
By kim glass

This painting is really a ‘watercolour’ although I used acrylics. Transparent layers of diluted paint were built up over a ground of gesso that I applied quite thickly on the canvas to create a texture that was exciting to work on. I used only 3 primary, process colours to paint it, magenta, cyan and yellow so the mixing was really important, I’m really pleased with the tertiaries in the background! I am told that flowers are passé now but I don’t think they will ever be for me!
