Useful Things no.1

I have a collection of jugs which are functional and predominately brown. This collection prompted the idea for a lino print collage.
To create the textured papers for the collaged shapes I manipulate an inked surface with various tools to create interesting patterns then pull a print from it. I select the most intriguing areas and cut out the ‘Useful Things’ freehand, using a sharp scapel as a drawing tool. I then arrange the motifs in the most pleasing way.
Each piece has its own original character and is unique.
I use water washable relief inks on Fabriano Rosapina 220gsm paper, and print using my die cutting machine repurposed as a press.  Cut and made by hand in my studio.
Image is approx 15 x 30 cm on a base 30 x 42 cm.
