Lost 1

A balsa wood and card framework raises the white structure from the black background which is embellished with circular motifs.  The development of this series (only two at the moment) is as follows. In the last few years I have cycled extensively around Kent and Sussex, tracking my journeys with an app on my mobile phone. I have distilled these mapped trips down to their basic essence, shown by straight lines. I get lost often and retrace steps frequently, so many of my routes overlap and repeat.
I created a series of drawings with a dip pen and acrylic inks, basically a complex net of lines and overlapping sections. As an experiment I cut it out, and fixed it onto a balsa wood framework to elevate it from the background mount. This piece now truly represents my confusion and lack of navigational skills.
