A lovely painting of Cadgwith Cove in Cornwall combining the textural qualities of collage and paint. Cadgwith is a quaint and pretty harbour town in West Cornwall famed for its singing fishermen at the Cadgwith Cove Inn of an evening amongst other seafaring things!
This Summer I was lucky enough to spend some time in the beautiful West of Cornwall and the harbours of Cornwall are particularly inspiring to me. The combination of quirky buildings, boats and harbour walls are all a fabulous combination for an artist. I am particularly drawn to recreating the feel of some of these textures on paper and canvas. This painting has taken several processes: A layer of collage which includes tissue paper, brown wrapping paper and newsprint from Cornish newspapers. Followed by layering of acrylic paints and inks spattered, rolled and printed (I don’t think a paintbrush was used at all in this painting!) A limited range of colours which include cerulean blue and burnt sienna, two of my favourite regulars, this painting is bursting with texture!
The painting is mounted and framed in an antique white mount and a natural oak wooden frame, (if sent abroad I may well remove the glass and replace it with polycarbonate glass for safely reasons). I can sell it just mounted and backed if preferred for £40 less, please email me for this option.
