“Hopscotch”

…We would mark the squares out using chalk, coal or anything that we could draw with and number them. If there was a spare shoe polish tin then we would use that to throw onto the squares. It wasn’t as easy as it looked and depending on how many squares was drawn depended on how hard the game could be. It was one of a number of street games that kept us occupied for a while. Paths would be covered with them. Sometimes it was weeks before the marks disappeared…
