My name is Carmen Ciobanu, and I am a contemporary visual artist. My work is born from a constant dialogue between emotion, memory, and light. I was born in Botoșani in February 1991, and I discovered painting at the age of nine — the moment when color became the language through which I could most honestly express my inner world.
My artistic style, defined by abstract realism, is influenced by the practice and aesthetics of contemporary American artists — a visual language in which real forms merge with abstract spaces, and storytelling intertwines with mystery. In my work, the feminine figure returns as an archetype: a symbol of beauty, gratitude, and inner peace, inviting the viewer into introspection.
I graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Iași and later completed my Master’s degree in Painting at the Milan Art Institute in the USA — experiences that strengthened not only my technique, but also my artistic vision. My visual journey has been presented in galleries in New York, Barcelona, and Switzerland, and my works have received international recognition in Russia, Taiwan, Tokyo, France, China, and Italy.
My paintings are stories — sometimes silent, sometimes vibrant — conveyed through intense colors, powerful light, and emotional layers intentionally placed on canvas.
I believe art exists to transform and to open new inner spaces, both within ourselves and within the places we inhabit.
At its core, my art is an invitation: to look beyond the image, toward what we feel when we stand in front of it.
