Mooring Ring or Picket, Rysa, Hoy
By Ian Collins

This is one of several found in the moorland just to the south of Rysa Lodge heavy anti-aircraft gun battery dating from WW2. It may have been used to support a radio mast (nearby is a concrete block inscribed with the letters Tx for transmitter). Or perhaps it was part of a mooring for one of the barrage balloons deployed here.
