Silver Orchid and Pink Amethyst Earrings

Fine silver orchid earrings with pink faceted amethysts and sterling silver ear wires. Phalaenopsis orchid flowers in fine silver hang from handmade and soldered sterling silver (92.5% silver) ear wires with dangly wire wrapped disco cut pink amethysts that have a lovely sparkle to them and they have very pretty movement!
Orchids are the gift for the 28th wedding anniversary and also the 60th and more recently used for the 2nd. Amethysts are also a 28th wedding anniversary, I made the first pair of these for that reason!
The orchids are made from fine silver clay which is particles of fine silver (99.9% silver purity) mixed in with a clay binder and it can be sculpted or moulded or cut etc. once the pieces are created they are then dried and fired in a kiln and as they are fired the clay binder burns away leaving a metal piece in this case fine silver.
The earrings are 4.5cm long (1 3/4 inches) from the top of the hook and 2.1cm wide (just over 3/4 inch) and the drop length from the top of the orchid is 3.1cm (about 1 1/4 inches).
