I paint semi-abstract contemplative landscapes. My artwork explores experiences and emotions connected to observations of the movement of sky, sea, river and where they meet the land, and the landscapes of places I know. I am drawn to the constant changes that I see, but also the familiar presence; just as we are the same and yet change. I am fascinated by the ‘unseen’ and explore the connections between myself and the natural world mainly through observation, imagination and intuition, but also memory, and reimagine these well known landscapes to explore my emotions. My aim is to find ‘Quietude’, which is defined as, ‘a state of stillness, calmness and quiet in a person or place’; and to help others find this too through teaching and coaching.
