'Garland of Freshly Cut Tears'

By Fiona Ormerod

'Garland of Freshly Cut Tears'

Inspired by Leonard Cohen’s ‘Take This Waltz’.

Cohen described this song as ‘my tiny homage to Federico Garcia Lorca’ (surrealist poet assassinated by the Spanish Fascists). The lyrics are very loosely based on the poem, ‘Pequeno vals Vienes’. Cohen also named his daughter, Lorca, after the poet.

Framed in 1.8cm x 2.2cm solid wood, with 4.4cm cream mount.

Created for King Street Studios’ ‘Art of Music’ exhibition (11th September - 19th October 2019).
