My work is heavily influenced by the forms and colours found in the coastal environment. I design my ceramics to echo the soft contours of the South Downs, creating pieces that settle comfortably in the hand and are a pleasure to hold. I use dimples to try to capture some of the tactile nature of clay in its raw, green state, before the firing process changes its structure. I am particularly fascinated by the linear border between land/sea/sky, and the glazes I use are layered to illustrate this juxtaposition of colour.
