Margaret Foreman is a well respected artist, specialising in portraiture, landscapes, still life and interiors. She trained at Goldsmiths College Of Art and The Royal Academy Schools. Since 1969 Margaret has shown her work in many of the countries top galleries including the Royal Academy Summer Show and annually at the Royal British Artists Show at the Mall Galleries in London. She is represented by The New Grafton Gallery in London.
During her career, Margaret has won a long list of prizes including: Arthur Hacker, British Institute, Royal Overseas League Commonwealth Prize, Landseer Prize and BP Portrait Award. Her work can be seen in The National Portrait Gallery, The Royal Museum and in many of the countries universities and colleges including St John’s College, Oxford, Downing College, Cambridge, The University Of Cardiff. Her portrait of The Very Reverend Alan Webster hangs in St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
Margaret says “I enjoy painting all subjects, but in particular I have been commissioned to paint many portraits. Over the years this has given me the opportunity to meet many interesting people. I prefer to paint my sitters from life in their own surroundings. I take careful note of any suggestions from my sitters about how they wish to appear in their portrait.”
