Neck Torc - Copper, Celtic Torq or Torque - medium

By Abby Hook

Neck Torc - Copper, Celtic Torq or Torque - medium

Torcs, also called Torq or Torque, were worn in ancient Briton and Europe, some 2000 years ago, particularly by the Gauls and Vikings. They were generally a single piece or strands of metal, twisted together, to form a large, rigid ring.

This understated, stylish neck torc is made with copper wire, which I have hand forged, hammering the ends and center of the piece, creating a tapered widening on these sections. I have then hammered a textured detail over the whole piece to finish this sleek design.

The Torc has an inner circumference of 18”, including the 2 1/2” gap and measures 1/8” at it’s widest point at the front.

This item comes in a jewellery box.
