Tree of Life Persian Carpet
Inspired by the theme of an Iranian festival, which took place in Edinburgh in January 2015, I developed the idea for my Tree of Life Persian Carpet in mosaic.
The design combines my interpretation of several elements of traditional Persian rugs, however, having to balance tradition with finding the right materials for the mosaic meant a bit of ‘artistic licence’ in it’s execution.
The finished mosaic includes all manner of reclaimed materials including mirror glass, glass tiles (left over from a bathroom job), ceramic dishes, vintage ceramic tile, and ball
