Painting: Oil on Canvas.
This painting is part of a series of ‘Portrait and Life Series’ that celebrate 1916.
This painting was inspired by W. B. Yeats, the Poet. (1865-1939)
Roger Casement (1864-1916) was a former British diplomat and anti-slavery campaigner who became an Irish revolutionary nationalist. He was arrested in April 1916, three days before the Easter Rising was due to begin, and tried and hanged for treason.
