Kenilworth Castle, Warwickshire

The castle, given by Queen Elizabeth I to Robert Dudley, was once the scene of extravagent pageantry which may have inspired Shakespear. However being a Royalist stronghold in the Civil War, it fell to the Parliamentarians and was later partially demolished.
