Goreme, Cappadocia

Goreme is a World Heritage site. Eruptions of the volcano Mt Erciyes spewed hard basalt and lava over the underlying limestone which gradually eroded leaving pillars and peaks which have been hollowed out to make chapels and houses. Many of the former have beautifully preserved frescoes, dating as far back as the forth century AD.
This picture is available as a professionally produced, limited edition Giclee print.
