Moulin Rouge

Based on the third film of Baz Luhrmann’s Red Curtain trilogy, my Moulin Rouge mosaic celebrates my favourite musical film. I have tried to incorporate all the important features of the film, including the Green Fairy (Absinthe), and in doing so, I had much fun! The mosaic is made up of a variety of recycled materials, such as ceramic tile, my sister-in-laws ceramic wastage (the elephant), hand-painted glass, diamante jewelry (after all, Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend) , scrabble tiles, broken car window with a sweet wrapper collage below and – tiny pieces but very important – discarded millefiori from Strathearn Paperweights, the factory of which was located in my home town of Crieff, also the home of Ewan McGregor (star of the film)!
