Skeleton leaf pendant - Midland Hawthorn

Skeleton leaf pendant - Midland Hawthorn

Another version of my Skeleton leaf. This time based on a Midland Hawthorn. Like common hawthorn, Midland hawthorn is ideal for wildlife-friendly gardens, where its dense, thorny cover makes it suitable for hedging and provides good nesting sites for a whole range of small birds. In April and May it produces white, occasionally pink or red, flowers and it has attractive glossy, dark green leaves. In autumn, plentiful haws provide bright colour and a source of winter food for resident birds and winter visitors.

The leaf is made using various gauges of copper wire, wrapped and woven together to form the intricate detail.

I have used turquoise beads both on the pendant and the handmade chain. The pendant is 2” tall including the woven bail and 1 1/8” at it’s widest pint. The chain is just over 16” long including the hook clasp.
