“The Man Who Sold The Moon”
Book jacket art for the novel by Robert A Heinlein (acrylic inks).
This was another chance to dip into my “Future Ideas” scrapbook. I had been encouraged to do this during college, and still do to this day.
For those wishing to do Science Fiction art as a career, here is a useful little exercise. Take an already familiar creature, then see how much you can distort it until it becomes something unrecognisable, yet somehow believable.
Doodling when talking on the phone is good too. A recent doodle of mine was a scribble of a one legged elephant wearing slippers, with eyes like golf balls and a trunk that turned into ivy leaves… which I’m sure I’ll find a use for some day !
