Looking down a bluebell-bordered path to sunlight with overhanging trees, particularly a huge weeping beech.
My attempts at an impression in oils failed and I put it away.
Two or three years later I looked again, and feeling that there was nothing to loose, started to play on it with acrylics. As these dried they separated into blobs on the still slightly oily surface, giving the effect of new beech leaves - and I had what I wanted!
