War Horse

Inspired by a combination of legend and historical fact, and a well-stacked example of the excitement I gain from every material I find. Each piece has a story to fire imagination - some more obvious than others.
The substrate was gradually grew out of surplus mortars; then sculpted down to refine the basic proportions.  The final surface is in tightly integrated, numerous cut slate sections and found and waste materials including: sea glass, stained glass, Smalti glass, clinker from the forge, scrap glass smelted in my wood burner, shipwrecked and studio pottery shards, bone and stone, and slate slithers.
I forged stainless steel ears and a the wheeled base is by Nathan Bennett. The wheels turn and little grub screws act as brakes.
