1C 13:12 Through a Glass Darkly (Au Travers un Miroir)

This work is the result of experimentation in the studio. In the process of spraying a cutout I discovered that the image on the paper protecting the wall was very interesting so I began to experiment with different paper backgrounds and paints. When I pinned these to the wall for my university crit at they reminded everyone of xrays of and perhaps of lungs. These have always made me think of the transitory nature of life and the quote from First Corintihians 13:12 came to mind, “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known” which has been the inspiration for many works of literature, film an music.
These three panels may be hung with a separation as in this photograph or connected together with aluminium pieces which attack to the back. They do not require glass and are not surrounded by a wood frame. I prefer them to appear to float on the wall.
