North Sea Cobles at Amble Harbour

Seen, 2010, on a visit to Northumberland. I am from that region and have always loved the elegant lines of these cobles. They have no keel but sit, on a beach, on two strakes. The long rudder (red on the boat’s bench) acts as a keel at sea. They are thought to borrow a lot of their constructional details from Viking longboats. Note new price!
