Iris

This is an old favorite of mine. The Iris is a picture from my garden. The background is made from epoxy, similar to that used for bar tops, and has glass beads and pure pigment sprinkled throughout it. This piece really comes alive in a well lit area, as the changeing light of the day effects the look of the painting. My original idea was to drip orange shellac cut with denatured alcohol over the black and white painting, as I had done with many previous paintings, but this one just dig no seem to require it.
