Kisimul Castle lies in the centre of Castle Bay, Barra, in the Scottish Outer Hebrides…in my eyes, it’s the best place on God’s planet and where my ancestors originate from…my Maiden name being McNeill.
Steeped in history, this is the most westerly inhabited island in Great Britain is probably best known for it’s link with the ‘Whisky Galore’ shipwreck. The island is only 8 miles long and 7 miles wide, with clean beaches, a truly invigorating climate and inspirational scenery.
Anyone who’s not been, should go!!
This painting is has textured rocks in the foreground and hills in the distance to capture the ruggedness of the landscape, while the sea in the bay remains sheltered and calm; a little sand is trickled around the shore-line to give the painting a more appeal.
This painting comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity.
If you have a scene from your holiday that you’d like me to capture in a similar vain, do email me.
I’ve created a McNeill’s of Barra group on Facebook and wondered if you might like to join…?
Please upload yout thoughts, memories, knowledge, photos/videos, etc. of your connection with Barra.
