About Lizanne Brown
Based in Tenterden, United Kingdom. member for 2 Years
Having stopped nursing due to ill health, I studied for two foundation years of a BA in Fine Art.
My current work involves the pouring of paint, controlling the type, temperature, tilt and timing, but the end result is due to gravity and serendipity.
I photograph these pictures minutely and then enlarge them massively to produce ‘random-scapes’ which have a life of their own. These can evoke imaginary or remembered land- and sea-scapes.
I also make 3D sculptures using found objects, usually in response to humanitarian issues. Recently this included the Ebola virus, Aboriginal land rights and the ongoing refugee crisis, as I feel I can better express my empathy in this medium.
However, I try to make work that has beauty, however serious the message.
