Basic sculpture

Spring and Summer 1 and 5 day courses in beautiful Englefield village near Reading in Berkshire.
The aim of the course is to nurture the love for stone, for stone carving and for stone sculpture and produce the germ of new sculptors locally.
Each day’s course to include –
Introduction to limestone
The safe use of stone carving tools
To learn basic stone carving techniques
To gain the wherewithal to continue carving stone at home
or at the McAlistair Hood workshop.
To produce a relief carving to take home (if required).
Stone, tools and safety eyeglasses supplied
Small groups and individual sessions available
Subsequent drop in sessions available to all students
Limited spaces so ENROLL NOW for 2013 Spring or Summer sessions.

The Sculpture Workshop
Is for the beginner and intermediate alike and designed to enable you to be inspired, have fun and learn new skills. In the relaxed atmosphere of the studio you will be encouraged to develop your own ideas with our guidance. We will discuss your ideas and advise you on how best to tackle them.
Garden Sculpture in Mosaic

Monday 6th May - Friday 10th May 2013. A 5-day class, starting on the Sunday evening, where you will be creating the sculptural forms on which you will then mosaic. You will complete three pieces; teaching you three different techniques for creating the substrate. The one garden sculpture will be one which can stand in a flower bed or over a pond; an other will be one to hang from a tree.
