Barmaid at The Wells Tavern

This glamorous 19th Century style barmaid, who was wearing a black satin dress (and who I decided to call Flossie), was the centerpiece at the Wells Tavern in Hampstead when I last visited it in 2001. I was on a tour of the wells on the River Fleet route, as part of the research for The Groundwater Diaries.

This is a colour version of the original pen and ink sketch.
