Artists Description
Illustration for “A Subaltern’s Love Song” by Sir John Betjemen. Joan Hunter-Dunn drives the young man to the tennis club dance-
“By roads ‘not adopted’, by woodlanded ways
She drove to the club in the late summer haze
Into nine o’clock Camberley, heavy with bells
And mushroomy, pinewoody, evergreen smells.”
Painted in the style of the 1920’s/30’s “Arts & Crafts/Art Deco” painters.
