Divorces are messy things, especially if you suffer depression. I painted this self portrait about a year after my family left. My two daughters who were always bickering with each other sometimes called round to see me. I imagined this is what they saw when the arrived at my door.

It was also inspired by a “challenge” from a friend. The challenge was that we both had to paint a door picture. This was my effort.

Those days are now in the past but I like to remind myself how hard times can be. It is part of my logo and is printed on the reverse side of my business card
