Artists Description
This painting evokes memories of the bomb-sites I played on as a boy. My parents talked about the war, but when I was 8 or 9 years old the significance didn’t really register.
One day we were looking for something to bring into School for miss, frogs, toads or snakes if we were lucky. I turned over a sheet of corrugated iron and saw some torn linoleum underneath; it was just like the lino we had on the floor of our kitchen. Then I realized people actually lived here!
