Sue Barnes
Artists Description

My work is about place, memory and imagination and is closely concerned with the personal.
Recently I have been drawing on family photos going back several generations, juxtaposing these images of children with half remembered places; corners of a garden, trees and hidey holes, peopled with pets and conjured animals and creatures of imagination. While I draw from dreams, memories and folklore, my work remains figurative.
With this work I am exploring the blurred edges between real memories, family folklore and the dreams and imaginings of children.
