So far, it’s been possible to walk about Venice alone in the dark until at least midnight when the shops shut during tourism seasons.  To see all the domes lit up against the backdrop of the clear, starry night, is indeed a majestic sight begging to be captured on canvas as I have done here.  Gondolas swish quietly past even at night, each having their own eerie-looking lamp lighting up the pathway through the canals.  Lights sparkle like glittering jewels everywhere.  I used light texture in this acrylic painting to give a feeling of the tranquillity I felt while sketching and documenting this scene and while later painting it in my studio.
