It's Ok to say NO
Artists Description

This disturbing scene is depicted through the use of heavily textured acrylic paints laid on thickly using palette knives, madly daubing in the paint in all directions, to reflect that feeling of despair a child must feel when in a threatening situaton like this.  The dark, disturbing, depressing mauves and purples of the background depict the fear and dread the child feels, The normal, bright colours of their clothes depict how sometimes scenes can look normal yet hide a lot of murky dealings.  I like to use wooden or plastic letters to enphasise the verbal exchange and every victim’s right to say, ‘NO’, to the predator’s,‘YES’.  I painted this in a child-like fashion to emphasise this from a child’s point of view.
