After dark, Venice can feel quite eerie and still in the autumn and winter months.  I love to see the gondolas moored and Venice’s distinct, Victorian-looking three-armed street lamps lighting up the darkness.  Lights seem to come from the moon to light up the lagoon in the background and my imagination runs riot, fuelled by the legends that the spirits of the gondoliers live on.  That is why I pictured a gondolier in the sky, above the lagoon.  Being a peaceful scene, I’ve used smooth texture and harmonious colours
