Being in Venice makes my art flow out of my fingers somehow; I painted this vibrant painting of gondoliers on the canal, with palette-knives.  I very much enjoy the challenge of painting water and making it look wet and with the light of Venice reflected on it, in her unique way.  Venice is all about gondolas, water, bridges, glass, domes, architecture, statues, vibrant colours, light, calles, canals and lagoons and plenty of boats.  I love the way gondolas list to the side and the gondolier balances his long wooden pole on the foundation of the canal and steers his way forward, noiselessly swishing through the still waters from bridge to bridge. My use of colour depicts all the variety of painted buildings contrasting with the canal waters and dark gondolas.
