Driving through the Ochil Hills, near Stirling, breathtaking scenes like this sometimes just appear like a vision before our eyes. I love using Oils for scenes from Scotland and Ireland. This solitary deer perhaps welcomed the vist from the eagle soaring above. Mute colours of rich oil paints are excellent for backgrounds and I like the accent colour of the deer’s fur, contrasting well with the lavenders and greys of the background. The faded, lavender grey of the distant mountains gives this painting a feeling of great depth.
